Set in the beautiful forest of Killruddery Estate in Bray, Nature Kindergarten is a unique outdoor classroom where children can immerse themselves in nature and learn through it.
It is a unique classroom where the walls change colour every day and the ceiling is a kaleidoscope of hues of blues, whites and greys. An astonishing classroom where children immerse themselves in nature and learn through it.
The Park Academy’s Nature Kindergarten is a unique educational outdoor campus for pre-school children. Modelled on the incredibly successful Scandinavian philosophy of Nature Kindergartens, this pioneering and ground-breaking approach in the Irish childcare sector is the first of its kind in Ireland.
At Nature Kindergarten, children are given the space and time to learn in a natural environment, through play and exploration.
This child led approach is at the core of the Nature Kindergarten philosophy. The children’s learning will revolve around what interests them, what is naturally happening around them (i.e. the seasons, the flora and fauna etc.) and what they instinctually need for their development during this period.
Through their activities, the children learn a variety of different skills from fire lighting and wood chopping, to bark whittling and cooking. Learning occurs naturally through fun and interesting projects, for example by building a den the children will learn about weight, height, slope, gradient, measurement, safety, balance, problem solving, creativity, leadership skills and persistence. Our Outdoor Early Years Educators are committed to extending the children’s education and so will utilise every child-led initiative as an opportunity for learning.
There are a number of full and part-time options available at Nature Kindergarten and parents who are eligible for ECCE funding will have this deducted from their monthly fee.
The minimum age for enrolment is 2.5 years. Toilet training is a necessary requirement.
