Only 56% of parents believe that childcare staff are fully qualified professionals

Barnardos are pushing the government to make major changes to the childcare system

After Barnardos released the findings of their latest survey on parenting, a challenge that many respondents could relate to was the issue of childcare.

38% of those surveyed said that affordable and quality childcare and preschool would make the biggest difference to them as a parent.

The children’s charity are pushing for the government to invest further in the provision of quality public affordable early years sector.

While work has been done, June Tinsley, Head of Advocacy in Barnardos said a lot more needs to be done. Particularly, increasing spending on early years from 0.3% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to meet the international average of 0.8% of GDP.
